I hope that I shall one day see
a 'net that's widely junk-mail free
For my inbox overfloweth nigh
with dross to see or be or buy
Once was a time when all was seen
was adverts on the TV screen
tho' muting worked, lest we complain,
to curb pains on tympanic membranes
We're pummeled, pelted, left and right
with ASCII hoo-hah through the night
hawking crap like carnie folk
and mortgages for those who're broke
discount drugs to buy online
or swedish goods I shant define
Now further to ignite my ire
these worms and virii sent by wire
Blaster scripts, myDoom variants
from some script kiddies who in hence
have no life, keep me alert
to stave attacks on my network
The daily patches, A/V defs
keep my days sullied and bereft
Spyware, malware, no relaxation
with this connivering communication
Some may say "Job Security"
but that's not the way to run I.T.
How can we solve this techie's bane
(It's terse, as I've one last refrain)
Power down, find a nook
Grab a beer, read a book
