Almost finalizing the house purchase/contract thing...
The current owners have agreed to replace the roofing materials prior to moving in....too many leaks in the attic and around some of the skylights.
We may be homeowners before the end of the month. KT loves it, and I'm pretty happy with it. It's only about 3 miles from work, 3BR/2Bath with a dining room we'll probably use as an office, screened in back porch, and an outside workshop where's I c'n do wood-type things.
I'll be doing lots of work in the coming months scraping off all that wallpaper and repainting though.

Cuz they're made from potatos skin that are real
rrrgh
We're in the process of buying a home now.....time to fucking grow up I guess
Finances, mortgages, real estate agents, home sellers, real estate attorneys, title companies, home inspectors....who'da thunk it's be so obnoxious. It seems that everybody wants their piece of the pie in the process...Thankfully, I think I have a large enough base of friends and family who can educate me through the whole damn thing. That free/cheap tech-support I've been throwing out there may actually be paying off.
On a side note, I was in New Orleans this past weekend for a insurance/tech conference that was about as inane as the last two years. I ended up attending with a coworker who I'd had "issues" with over the past few months (mutual). It's amazing what a few Pat O'Briens Hurricanestm will do to smooth things out in a working relationship.
I also walked away from the Harrah's blackjack tables $175 richer than walking towards after starting with only $40 in chips. It was only my second time hitting a real casino....I can see where it would be addictive living in a gambling town. I went in knowing I would put down and most probably lose my max of $60, but just got lucky. I saw people walking in there that looked as if they were dropping entire paychecks on a "good time" at various tables. Just glad I don't carry those kind of monkeys. Wait, where's my beer?
